Bright sunshine and a strong wind can make for an exciting round of golf. On the way to the clubhouse, we pass the beautiful driving range, where we stop for a little practice. We continue up the hill and we can already see some of the holes. The club is known for it’s magnificent views over the Mediterranean Sea. We are already excited, because apart from the game, a scenically attractive course is a subtle, but important part of the fascination of golf. Let's go!
| Par 4 | Men's 309 Meters |
| Handicap 15 | Ladies 272 Meters |
The excitement starts right at the first hole with an incredible view of the entire fairway and the sea lying behind the green. On the waves of the ocean whitecaps can be seen, I guess the wind speed to be between 5-6 and blowing directly into our faces. The fairway runs straight down some 290 meters. On the right of the fairway is lurking a bunker at 190 meters. Therefore Haiko, with the honor to start, hits a low drive to the left about 250 meters down the fairway, the wind did not disturb him. With my handicap problems are considerably more, with my 3 wood I plan to hit the ball just left of the bunker leaving me in a good position to hit a second shot of some 100 meters to the green. I hit behind the ball and it rises steeply into the sky, is caught by the wind and falls some 130 meters, not too bad, now only 170 meters to the flag. I take 4 shots to get to the green, but I’m still 15 meters from the flag with an uphill putt. Haiko who hit his second shot onto the top level easily gets his par, and I finish with a 7. Quite good.
