Finally back golf. After weeks of constant rain we are finally back to playing golf which is our secret love. Today we have chosen Marbella Golf & Country Club, the course was revised last year (four completely new holes), and I haven’t played here since the alterations. The course has always been challenging and well maintained, and I am curious to know if it is still as good. To put it straight to the point. My expectations were exceeded.

8:30am, the sun rising behind us, no one in sight, this promises to be a wonderful round of golf. The first hole is a dogleg left, uphill to a green guarded by 7 bunkers. Full of joy, I have the honor of playing the first ball of the day. Play the tee shot to the right side of the fairway, because on the left the land falls steeply to the driving range running parallel. And no one, in their right mind, should wander down there. It’s full of diligently practicing golfers even at this early hour. I hit my ball into the bend of the fairway giving me a chance of attacking the green with my 8 iron. The battery of bunkers at the front and right of the green tempt me to align myself to the left, and my ball, unfortunately, lands left of the green at the foot of a giant olive tree, and a good 2 feet below the putting level. I reach the green with my third blow, and manage to 2 putt to finish the first hole with a bogey. For me, not a bad start.
