Spain takes in 66 refugees from Greece, 65 of Syrian nationality and 1 Iraqi
The group comprises 19 men, 12 women and 35 children, who will be relocated to Barcelona, Almeria, Castellon, Palencia, Palma de Mallorca, Vizcaya and Madrid.

​66 refugees have arrived in Spain from Greece under the European Union relocation programme set up to tackle the humanitarian consequences of the war in Syria. The refugees, 65 of Syrian nationality and 1 of Iraqi nationality, arrived at Adolfo Su├írez Madrid-Barajas Airport at midday on Thursday.

Of the 66 refugees, 19 are men, 12 are women and 35 are children, They will be relocated in Barcelona (24), Almeria (18), Castellon (9), Palencia (5), Palma de Mallorca (5), Vizcaya (4) and Madrid (1).

Spain has now taken in a total of 1,100 applicants for international protection, 811 under the relocation programme and 289 under the resettlement programme.

The Spanish System for the Reception and Integration of applicants/beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries a stay at a reception centre of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security or of an NGO (subsidised by the government) at which they are guaranteed lodging, meals, legal advice, psychological assistance, social care and advice, accompaniment to education centres, public health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, guidance and intermediation for vocational training and job reinsertion, cultural activities and economic aid.
